Necklace (foaled 24 February 2001) is a Thoroughbred British runner and broodmare trained by Ireland. He achieved his greatest success as a two-year-old in 2003 when he won two of his four races including Dakan Debutan and Poy Moyglare Stud. The following year failed to win but finished third at Beverly D. Stakes and fourth at Epsom Oaks before retiring from racing with a record of two wins from nine starting in four different countries. He had little success as a broodmare, only producing one small winner.

The necklace is a mare raised in England by the Hampshire-based Meon Valley Stud. As a year-old boy in October 2002, the foal was handed over to the sale of Tattersalls and purchased for 600,000 guineas by the Dermot bloodstock agent "Demi" O'Byrne on behalf of John Magnier's Coolmore Stud organization. He was sent to training with Aidan O'Brien at Ballydoyle. During his racing career he raced for partnerships Michael Tabor and Susan Magnier, usually carrying the blue and orange Tabor.
He became the father of Darshaan who won the Prix du Jockey Club for the Aga Khan in 1984 before becoming a successful breeding horse. The best of his other offspring include Dalakhani, Mark of Esteem and Kotashaan. The Spinning the Yarn necklace dam represents excellent ability, ranks seventh in the only race, but is the daughter of Irish Colors Oaks winner, making it her stepbrother at the Opera House and Kayf Tara.

Racing career
2003: season two years
The necklace is controlled by all races by Mick Kinane. On his racing debut, he faces eleven opponents in his inaugural match for six furlong on July 12 at Curragh. He made a 3/1 favorite but despite recovering from a poor start he failed to overhaul a Soviet player trained by Jim Bolger and beaten three-quarters of the length into second place. The foal then stepped into the Group 3 class for Stake Debuts for seven furlongs on the same track four weeks later and started 7/4 favorites against twelve opponents. He was stuck in the back before coming to lead out and win long from the English-trained Caldy Dancer with Red Feather in third.
On August 31st The necklace was moved again in the class for Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes and started 5/4 favorites on eleven runner spots. Soviet Belle and Red Feather are back in opposition while other crushers include River Belle (Princess Margaret Stakes) and Maroochydore (Silver Flash Stakes). Kinane held off the foal at an early stage when his stablemate Oh So Precious set the pace before giving way to Clive Brittain's Climbed Menhoubah approaching the last quarter of a mile. The necklace moved to a distant third place and finished strongly to lead and win with long and short heads from Red Feather and Menhoubah. Commenting on the prospect's future prospects, Kinane said, "Another one will be really on the way.He will be Oaks filly next season and he will have a shout at 1,000 Guineas as well". Aidan O'Brien said "The necklace has improved with every run and is a beautiful foal."
In its last race of the year, the Necklace was sent to France for Group 1 of Marcel Boussac's 1400 meters Prix at the Longchamp Race Arena on 5 October. He started favorites but was never seen to have a chance to win and go home a tenth of sixteen runners behind Denebola.
2004: three-year season
Necklaces started their second season on the 191 trip of 1,000 Guineas over Rowley miles at Newmarket Racecourse on May 2nd. He started to dispute 8/1 and had no impact, tiring in the last quarter of a mile and ending in the twelfth place behind Attraction. He did a little better in Ireland 1000 Guineas three weeks later when he came home sixth behind Attraction, beaten six long by the winner. On 4 June, the mare was moved to the distance to Epsom Oaks 225 for a mile and a half where she came in fourth behind the Ouija Board, All Too Beautiful and Punctilious.
In the fall Nacklace was sent to compete in the United States where he competed in two races. In August he started 25/1 outsiders for Beverly D. Stakes in Arlington Park and finished strongly to finish third, beaten half-length and one-headed by Crimson Palace and Riskaverse. At Belmont Park in September he started his second favorite for the Town Garden Breeders Handicap Cup but finished fourth from seven runners behind Lucifer Stone.
Breed records
After he retired from the Necklace racing became a nightmare for Coolmore Stud. He was repeatedly mated to the Well of Sadler, who was his great-grandfather, or the descendant of the stallion. He produced one small winner of eight foals:
- The Safir bracelet, a filly bay, foaled in 2006, belongs to Sadler's Wells. Failed to win in three races.
- Scottish Reel, bay colt (later welded), 2007 by Sadler's Wells. Failed to win in 28 races.
- Ruby Necklace, bay filly, 2008, by Sadler's Wells. There is no.
- Purple, Bay, 2009, Galileo. Win one race.
- Quel Avantage, bay colt, 2010, by Galileo. Failed to win in five races.
- Gold Bracelet, horse cart, 2013, by Montjeu. Not in the race course.
