Still Making Love , (Japanese: ???????? , May 2, 2000 - August 2, 2007) are racehorses and horsemen Japanese females. After winning his only race as a teenager, he became the best nobleman of his generation in Japan, winning Oka Sho, Yushun Himba and Shuka Sho to complete Triple Crown Fillies Japan. He remained in training for two more years but failed to win again and retired in 2005. He only produced one foal before he died at the age of seven in 2007.

Still in Love is a mare raised in Japan by Shimokobe Farm. He was sedated by Sunday Silence, who won the Kentucky Derby in 1989, before retiring to study in Japan where he won on thirteen successive occasions. Other major winners include Deep Impact, Stay Gold, Heart's Cry, Manhattan Cafe, Zenno Rob Roy and Neo Universe. Still at the Dam of Love, Bradamente is the daughter of Roberto who grew up in Kentucky. He is the half-brother of the Golden Colors, which produces the winner of Yushun Himba, Rose Decollete.

During his racing career, Still in Love is owned by North Hills Management Co Ltd and trained by Shigeki Matsumoto. He was ridden in most of his races by Hideaki Miyuki.

Racing career

2002 & amp; 2003: season two and three years

On her only appearance as a two-year-old Still in Love won her inaugural race over 1400 meters at Hanshin Racecourse on November 30, 2002.

Still in Love started his second season by winning Kobai Stakes over 1400 meters at Kyoto Racecourse in January and then moving in a class for Class III Tulip Sho at Hanshin where he completed the second of sixteen runners behind Osumi Haruka. On April 13 Still in Love is one of seventeen fillers for the Oka Sho Grade I contest (first leg of Japanese Fillies Triple Crown) over 1600 meters on the same track. He started 5/2 with his favorite with Admire Groove with the best crush of other runners is Yamakatsu Lily and Meine Nouvelle. Still in Love was won by one and a half long outsiders 50/1, She Is Tosho, with Admire Groove, half of third. His 1: 33.9 victory was a record for the race. The filly was then moved to a great distance for Yushun Himba over 2400 meters at Tokyo Racecourse on 25 May. He added a second leg of the Triple Crown as he won with one and a quarter-length of Chunyi, with Shinko Ruby sweeping third ahead of Yamakatsu Lily.

After a nearly four-month break, Still in Love returned to the Rose Stakes of Class II at Hanshin on September 21 and completed the fifth of the twelve runners behind Admire Groove. On October 19, the foal attempted to complete the Triple Crown at Shuka Sho over 2,000 meters at Kyoto Racecourse where his opponents included Admire Groove, Peace of World (Hanshin Juvenile Fillies), Osumi Haruka, Chunyi, and Yamakatsu Lily. He won by three-quarters of Admire Groove with Yamakatsu Lily, Peace of World and Meine Samantha behind in third, fourth and fifth. In his final appearance of the season, Still in Love was matched with fillies and older horses at the Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup over 2200 meters in Kyoto in November and a second finish, beaten by his old rival Admire Groove.

2004 & amp; 2005: next career

In 2004 Still in Love failed to win in five races. In the first part of the season behind Tap Dance City at Kinko Sho and Takarazuka Kinen and then finished on the 12th in the third class of Kitakyushu Kinen. In the autumn he finished third to Osumi Haruka in Class III of Fuchu Himba Stakes and ended the year by running the ninth behind Admire Groove in the Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup.

Still in Love remains in training as a five-year-old but has no impact in the three starts, completing places in Kinko Sho, Takarazuka Kinen and Fuchu Himba Stakes.

Assessments and awards

In January 2004, Still in Love was voted Best Third Year of the Year 2003 at the JRA Awards.

Breed records

Still in Love has retired from the race to become a broodmare. He only produced one horse:

  • Judah, a cole horse, foaled in 2007, loved by King Kamehameha. Won two races.

Still in Love fell ill in July 2007 due to stomach complaints. He underwent surgery but failed to recover and died on August 2, 2007 at the age of seven.
