Plot summary
The "Beautiful White Horse Summer" is told by a nine-year-old Aram Garoghlanian, a member of the Armenian community living among lush fruit gardens and California vineyards. An Aram morning was awakened at four o'clock in the morning by his cousin, the thirteen-year-old Mourad, who was considered crazy by everyone except Arameans, and had a way with animals. Aram was surprised to see Mourad sitting on a beautiful white horse. Aram always wanted to ride a horse, but his family was too poor to buy it. However, despite the poor, the Garoghlanian tribe is known for its honesty, and trust, as a result it is unthinkable that Mourad would steal the horse. Aram felt that his cousin could not steal the horse.
Aram is invited to ride a horse with Mourad. Mourad's idea of ââstealing a horse was drained away from Aram's mind when he felt that it would not be a steal unless they offered to sell the horse. They enjoyed horseback riding for several hours. Mourad's insane behavior is considered a natural offspring of their uncle Khosrov, although his father, Zorab, is a practical man. Uncle Khosrove is a great man who is always angry, impatient, and irritable. He will roar for everyone to stop talking and say No harm, do not mind it . In fact, one day, when his son came and told them that their house was on fire, Khosrov silenced him with a roar of "Enough, no harm". After a while driving, Mourad wanted to ride alone. Aram had the same yearning, but when he sat on a horse and kicked his muscles, the horse snorted and grunted and ran forward, eventually knocking Aram off his back. After half an hour they found the horse and hid it in a deserted vineyard owned by a farmer named Fetvajian who used to belong to him.
That afternoon, an Assyrian farmer named John Byro - an Assyrian friend of the Garoghlanians - came to Aram's house. He reported to Aram's mother that her white horse that had been stolen a month ago was still missing. Hearing this, Aram concluded that, Mourad would have owned a horse for a long time. Khosrove, who was at Aram's house when Byro came, shouted - "there's nothing wrong" so Byro was forced to leave to avoid giving a response.
Aram ran into Mourad to tell him about Byro's arrival. Aram also begged Mourad not to return the horse until he could learn to ride. Mourad disagreed that Aram would need at least a year to study, but promised he would keep it for six months at most. This becomes a routine. Mourad came every day to pick up Aram to ascend, and Aram continually fell off the horse's back after every effort. Two weeks later, when they will bring the horse back to his hideout, they meet Byro on the way. The farmer was very surprised. He recognizes his horse but refuses to believe that the children have stolen it. He said "horses are my twin horses" and "suspicious people will believe his eyes are not his heart", but Byro, who knows the Garoghlanian tribe for his honesty, throws his suspicions away. This incident seems to hit the conscience of children. They returned the horse to John Byro's barn. He was very excited.
