Horses & amp; Hound is the oldest weekly riding magazine from the UK. The first edition was published in 1884. The magazine contains horse industry news, reports from horseback riding events, veterinary advice on caring for horses, and horses for sale. Fox hunting has always been an important topic for magazines, such as sporting events, dressage, jumping competitions, horse racing, shows, riding trains and endurance riding. The magazine includes comments from top drivers and coaches including rider William Fox-Pitt, captain Mark Phillips's main trainer, jumper performances of William Funnell and Olympic rider and coach Carl Hester, among others. Its current Content Director is Sarah Jenkins, who replaces the magazine's first female editor, Lucy Higginson, in July 2014.
Among the main annual equestrian events reported by Horses & amp; Hound is the Badminton Horse Trials, the Burghley Horse Trials, the Horse of the Year Show, and the Olympic London International Horse Show.
The magazine is published by Time Inc UK. The latest copy reaches the store every Thursday, while the press day is Monday. The magazine office is at Pinehurst II in Farnborough (formerly the Blue Fin Building/Kings Reach Tower in central London).
