Butte Creek Scout Ranch

Butte Creek Scout Ranch is a farm that doubles as a Cub Scout resident camp. Comprised of over 600 acres located near Scotts Mills, this property was first opened as a summer camp in 1997. During the summer, this is a 3 day and 2 night camp for 5-10 year old guides. Unlike other Cub camp residents on the council, it has a Western theme every year. It is one of the few scout camps in the country that includes a riding station. Across the property, cows, goats, chickens, and sometimes pigs are present. This property is also the first camp on the board to start sessions for girls in the same age group. Originally started in 2007, the program was called "Sisters' Camp" and had the goal of making the Cub Scout nuns also have the opportunity to experience it. In 2012, the program still exists (now called "Girls' Camp"), and for ages 8 to 13. Summer staff are mainly high school students.

This property also serves as a winter location for 70 board horse heads. Twice a year, June and August, 50 horses are driven between Camp Baldwin and Butte Creek along a scenic route over Mount Hood. The Horse Trek is open to anyone over the age of 13, although scouts receive a discount. During winter, scouts can enjoy weekend horseback riding and camping on the property. Winter is managed by a diverse group of volunteers who run the rides and help maintain the property.
