The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque (commonly known as Range Rover Evoque ) is a subcompact luxury subway SUV manufactured by British manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover, a subsidiary of Tata Motors, under their Land Rover marque. The production vehicle is similar to the Land Rover LRX concept car, which was introduced at the North American International Auto Show in January 2008. It has been produced since July 2011 in three and five-door versions, with both two-wheel and four-wheeled.

Development
The size of the LRX concept vehicle complements a variety of technology efficiency improvements in the form of Land Rover eRabrain technology. These include biofuel compatibility, lightweight construction materials and technologies such as removable carbon composite roof panels, regenerative brakes, stop-start systems, and ERAD (rear electric shaft drive) parallel hybrid powertrain systems.
The ERAD system can drive the LRX to a speed of up to 20 mph (32 km/h) before the engine is started by an integrated starter generator as part of the stop-start system. ERAD is designed to reduce CO 2 emissions by an average of 20 percent below the NEDC test cycle and is expected to offer another 10 percent reduction in driving situations outside the city while also optimizing off-road capabilities of vehicles. Land Rover aims to achieve emissions of 120Ã, g/km CO 2 and fuel economy of 60 mpg -imp (4.7 L/100 km; 50 mpg -US ) in the combined European cycle with an efficient 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine. The engine will be the only four-cylinder vehicle in the Range Rover range.
The Medan Response System also includes offering sports and eco modes apart from existing grass , gravel , snow , and sand mode. The typical Land Rover design features aim to improve off-road performance including prominent driving positions, hill descent control, and useful approaches and departure angles. The first Land Rover is an air intake system that is integrated into the roof that offers exceptional sailing capability even though this feature does not make it to the production model. Land Rover Range Rover Styling is visually evident in clamshell hood, 'floating' roof, dual pocket headlamps, and rolled roof lines.
Interior design improvements are another major focus of the LRX concept though the interior of the Evoque production changes significantly from the LRX concept. Important interior features in the LRX include ambient interior lighting that changes according to the Medan Response setting, and vehicle data presented to the driver through a floating three-dimensional LCD screen. An aluminum center console with an iPhone docking station runs along the cabin, separating the four seats and the tailgate. The open-sided seats are used to give the impression of a spacious interior while also creating a seating area beneath the bench and downstairs are useful. The electric motor folding the rear seat forward provides enough space for two mountain bikes to be mounted upright, with the front wheel removed and stored in a special slot on the floor.

Overview
The production model of the Evoque maintains an almost identical bodywork of LRX concept vehicles including long roof panoramic sun cabins. No hybrid power train is currently offered, however, due to a new top-down hybridization project conducted by Land Rover, the first will feature heavier vehicles such as Land Rover Discovery, and the usual Range Rover, and then move to light vehicles such as Evoque. The terrain response system version is included, though.
The car was launched as two different models (then three models for 2017): Evoque five-door, Evoque CoupÃÆ'à © three doors, and Evoque Convertible (launched as a 2017 model). The CoupÃÆ'à © model was later discontinued after the 2017 model while the five-door model and Convertible remained in production. All models are available in four trim levels - "Pure", "Prestige", "Pure Plus" and "Dynamic". Land Rover markets Pure as a minimalist version of the "base model" while Prestige adds luxury options and Dynamic focuses on performance. Land Rover estimates 80% of North American sales will be for the five-door model.
Evoque is capable of leading class off-road performance with 215Ã, mm (8.5Ã, in) of ground clearance, approach 25 degrees and 33 degree angle of departure, and a depth of rading 500Ã, mm (19,7Ã, à °). The Evoque platform, named LR-MS, is loosely based on the Ford EUCD platform (used in Freelander 2 companies) but 90% of its parts are redesigned.
Body
Evoque departs from a classical body on a frame construction used in the 20th century for vehicles designed for off-street use. Instead the Evoque has a more modern unity body structure. Engineers use advanced weight-saving techniques to lose weight to below 1.670 kg (3.680 lb). The use of aluminum for the hood and roof, and the composite plastic for one-piece tailgate helps produce vehicles weighing 100 kg (less than à £ 2) than the Freelander. The Evoque can be fitted with five exterior cameras to give the driver additional visibility for off-road maneuvers and offset the sloping roofline design with limited visibility.
The Evoque comes in twelve different body colors with optional optional three-sided roofs and five optional wheel options even though Land Rover offers the designer's "designer choices" combination that has been specified on most models. The Dynamic model incorporates a more aggressive bodywork including different front fascia and lowered suspension.
Machine
Three engine options were originally available for Evoque: two 2.2-liter turbodels that produced 150 PS (110 kW, 148 bhp), or 190 PS (140 kW, 187 bhp), and 2 liters 240 PS (177 kW, 237) bhp) turbocharged gasoline.
Land Rover reveals the Evoque with a nine-speed automatic transmission during the Geneva Motor Show. The new automatic transmission was developed by ZF Friedrichshafen. In addition, the first gear automatic nine speed transmission is designed specifically for off-road conditions, crane and damage to road conditions. Further, the first gear of a nine-speed automatic transmission is much lower than the first gear of the six-speed automatic. Land Rover did not disclose any further technical details about the new automatic transmission.
Land Rover has developed their own branded Ingenium machine to comply with UE6 emissions regulations. There are three 2-liter variants available: eD4 150 PS (110 kW, 148 bhp) turbodiesel 2 wheel drive manual gearbox, or TD4 180 PS (132 kW; 178 bhp) permanent 4 wheel drive 9 speed automatic and 2 liter Si4 240Ã, PS (177Ã, kW; 237Ã, bhp) turbocharged permanent gasoline 4 wheel drive 9 speed automatic.
The estimated fuel economy of the manufacturer for a 2.2 liter diesel engine with manual transmission is 47.1 miles per gallon imperial (6,00 Ã, L/100 km, 39.2 mpg -US ) urban and 56.5 miles per gallon imperial (5.00 Ã, L/100Ã, km; 47.0 mpg -US ) combined, with CO 2 emissions of 133 g/km.
For a 2.0-liter petrol engine with automatic transmission, the figure is 23.7 miles per gallon imperial (11.9 L/100 km, 19.7 mpg -US ) urban and 32.5 miles per gallon imperial (8.7 L/100Ã, km; 27.1 mpg -US ) are combined, with 199Ã, g/km CO 2 .
The US Environmental Protection Agency's estimated fuel economy has been expressed as 19 miles per gallon of US (12 L/100 km, 23 mpg -imp ) in the city and 28 miles per gallon US (8.4 L/100 km, 34 mpg -imp ) on the highway for the 2 liter gasoline version.
The All-terrain System
The Evoque is equipped with two-wheel drive or fourth generation Haldex permanent Four-wheel drive system up to 2014 model year renewal when the Haldex system is replaced by two optional Wheel Drive (Driveline Standard or Active Driveline) drives by GKN Driveline. The Evoque is also standard with the latest Terrain Terrain Response version, which maximizes traction under various conditions by altering throttle response, power distribution, and suspension settings. The Medan Response System also includes electronic stability controls, roll stability control, traction control, and optional downhill controls that automatically apply braking to control speed as it moves down the slope.
The third generation MagneRide suspension system is also available, which works by magnetizing iron particles in the suspension fluid to rapidly adjust the toughness of the shock absorber to road changes.
Interior
A more important option is a long cabin fixed sunroof and an 8-inch touch screen entertainment system that can display two different images simultaneously for the driver and front passenger, the same system used in other Range Rover and Land Rover models. As well as mood lighting, in colors like red, and blue, are located on the door frames, handles, and other nooks and crannies of the Evoque. Evoque also has a push button start system, which will start the vehicle automatically, once the fob key is felt. The cabin has four seats, with optional heated seats, steering wheel, and windshield wipers. There is also a 5-inch driver information screen, which displays information about the vehicle, and more. There are 12 interior color options available in a variety of wood and metal trims as well as three optional contrast roof treatments.
Security
The European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) gives Evoque a five star car security rating, earning the following ratings for each criteria. The model tested is a right, five-door drive with a 2.2 diesel engine listed in 2011:
The New Australian Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) rated the Evoque four out of five stars for crash safety, scoring 32.49 out of 37. This score accounts for 12.39 of 16 ratings in the frontal offset collision test, and a score of 16 out of 16 received for the test side effects.
