The Dubai Sheema Classic is the flat race horse race of Group 1 in the United Arab Emirates open to horses aged four and above. It runs over 2,400 meters (approximately 1 / 2 mil; 2410 meters since 2010) on the tour route in Meydan Racecourse, Dubai, and it takes place every year during Dubai World Cup Night in March.
The race was first run in 1998, and was originally titled Dubai Turf Classic . The name is now introduced two years later. The event achieved Group 1 status in 2002. Prior to 2010, it was run at Nad Al Sheba Racing Arena.
Dubai Sheema Classic currently offers a $ 5 million wallet, making it and Dubai Turf crowded two of the world's richest grass races behind The Everest, the Australian race which debuted in October 2017 with A $ 10 million (about US $ 7.4 million per May 2017).
