Bennett was born in Gainesville, Florida and is the second oldest of 11 children. Bennett lived in Gainesville for the first eight years of his life before moving to Ocala, Florida to live with his father after his mother was arrested on drug charges. Bennett had a difficult time when he came from a broken house, often got into a fight, and both parents abused cocaine. Growing up, Bennett is a "scapegoat" family, but very athletic and talented football player in high school, where he plays back racing, midfielders, and even the defensive midfielder despite his small body. However, Bennett was expelled from the team during his second year. During his freshman year, his father drove him out of the house and Bennett eventually dropped out of school before turning his attention to selling narcotics. On the sidelines of a prison assignment, he found a newspaper ad for a mixed martial sports center in Ocala and decided to sign up and join the gym. His coach was impressed with his speed and strength, but Bennett is still dealing with drugs. Finally, he gave up drug dealing and focused on mixed martial arts, with the birth of his first child as his primary motivation to change his lifestyle even though he continued to be arrested on drug charges until 2011. He also praised the king of Cage owners Terry Trebilcock Jr. to help Bennett change his life.
