Biography

Michael Hobby and Bill Satcher grew up in Newberry, South Carolina, where they started writing songs at the age of 15. Cousin Satcher and Savannah, original GA, Graham DeLoach, joined the duo soon afterwards. A friend finally introduced the natives of Atlanta, Zach Brown, and A Thousand Horses formed. The name "Thousand Horses" comes from a song on their first EP. They love to write their own original songs, but they sometimes collaborate with other writers around Nashville. They have toured nationwide and released their full album, Southernality , on January 21, 2015.

Bridge

Their "deluxe EP", Bridges, was released on June 2, 2017 with BMLG Record. Producing new CDs with Dann Huff and Corey Crowder bands swear to keep their unique sounds carefully. One of the featured songs recorded was a live version of their breakthrough hit, "Smoke" recorded on Printer's Alley.

Southernality

Released June 9, 2015, Southernality, second album Thousand Horse, though this is the first under the Nashville Republic. The first single, Smoke, has charted in Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs, reaching Number One on the previous charts, making A Thousand Horses the first country group to chart the debut single No. 1 since Zac Brown Band's "Chicken Fried" reached Number One on December 2008. Reviews generally praised their fine voices, lyrics, and the mix between the country and rock. The album's second single, "(This Is not No) Drunk Dial" was released to state radio on June 29, 2015. The album's third single, the title song was released to state radio on February 29, 2016.

One Horse

The song "Suicide Eyes" from this album is featured in the movie Footloose starring Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough. The director, Craig Brewer, found the song and knew it fit the movie.

For their performances at the Austin City Limits festival in 2014, Rolling Stone praised the band as the best newcomer to praise "the irrefutable energy and stage presence [and] their live performances."

Influences

One thousand horses identify themselves as British stone hybrids, country, American rock, soul, and blue. Their voices mimic Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Black Crowes, and Rolling Stones in the context of a modern state. Hobby writing is rooted in big names like Dwight Yoakam, Tom Petty, and Noel Gallagher.
