The Wild Horse Border Crossing links the city of Havre, Montana with Medicine Hat, Alberta on the Canadian-US border. This is achieved by Montana Secondary Highway 232 on the American side and Alberta Highway 41 on the Canadian side. In 2012, the US replaced its border inspection facility, which was originally built in 1964. Prior to that time, travelers were expected to proceed to the US Customs office in Havre town for reporting to be examined. The intersection was established in 1925. CBP and CBSA had problems coordinating hours of operation at this intersection for several years.
The intersection is so remote that government housing for border officials is next to the station. There are local organizations filing petitions to border service agencies to make the Wild Horse a 24 hour border crossing.
