Equitrekking is an award-winning themed Emmy themed television on public television. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina native Darley Newman, host, writer and producer, and graduate of George Washington University in 2001, takes viewers to locations around the world for horseback riding and other adventure activities with the locals. The show features a tourist-friendly ranch, trail rides, race horses, and horseback riding events, as well as locations in the United States and abroad. The series visits the path destinations with local residents to give viewers a greater sense of history and culture than any locals.

History and development
Equitrekking first aired a pilot episode filmed in Ireland in July 2004 on Horse TV . The series then filmed a New Mexico episode broadcast on KNME-TV in New Mexico. "Equitrekking" then started a national broadcast on Public Television through American Public Television.
The 33 episode series now airs on Public Service Broadcasting stations across the country and on international networks. "Equitrekking" is also broadcast on CREATE TV, the Public Television lifestyle network. Equitrekking's Equitrekking Travel Adventures on Horseback, "published by Chronicle Books and written by Darley Newman with photographs from Equitrekking's Executive Producer Chip Ward, who is also her husband, features dozens of beautiful rides in the US and around the world from" Equitrekking's "13 the first episode. Hundreds of photographs paired with Darley Newman's travel records bring a blend of landscapes, history, culture, and horses.
Equitrekking is the first television series to explore the world on horseback and every episode filmed in High Definition (HDTV). "Equitrekking" Won the First Prize for Best Tour Releases in 2008 and 2009 and the book "Equitrekking Travel Adventures on Horseback" won the Merit Award for Best Travel Books in the 2008 North American Travel Journal Travel Competition. In May 2009, Equitrekking was nominated for two Emmy Daytime for Special Series Special Class and Remarkable Single Camera Photography.
In August 2009, Equitrekking won an Emmy Day for an Exceptional Single Camera Photography. In May 2010, Equitrekking was nominated for Emmy Daytime for Special Special Class. In May 2011, "Equitrekking" was nominated for Daytime Emmy for Exceptional Special Class Writing.
"Equitrekking" has a companion website at Equitrekking.com featuring travel video clips, travel articles and travel tips related to horse riding and adventure, Darley's blog, photos and monthly e-newsletters. Equitrekking Vacation Guide, which has been featured on the Chicago Tribune , showcases great riding destinations including dude and guest ranches, horse safaris, package trips, cattle drives, horse riding resorts, and horse-holiday destinations around the world. EquitrekkingTravel.com was launched in January 2010 and features a global equestrian holiday inspired by the Equitrekking TV series.
