Characteristics

The Mustang Cerbat is said to resemble a classic Andalusian horse in conformation, and has characteristics consistent with the Spanish horse type. They have 14 to 15 hands (56 to 60 inches, 142 to 152 cm) high, and an average weight of 750 to 800 pounds. The first generation in captivity, however, is said to stand only 13.2 hands (54 inches, 137 cm). The most commonly encrusted bays and creases, but there are some gray, black, reddish-brown, and duns found in the HMA Cerbat in Arizona. Those in private hands are said to be just a bay, a roan or a tan. White marks on the feet and heads are common. The Cerbat Roan foal is born, unlike other race chicks who are born with dark colors and "wander" as they get older, fading in color. They are considered quiet, quiet and intelligent. Some Cerbat can do medium ambling blast.

They have been identified as descendants of the Spanish Colonial Horse and the group of wild horses currently found in Arizona. For this reason, they are accepted by the Spanish Mustang registry. There is no official Cerbat horse registration now and its breeds are extremely rare, with 45 registered horse numbers, and a steady number of about 70 found in the Herb Cerbat.

History

It is hypothesized that Mustang Beetles are descended from Mustangs of Spain brought to the US in the 1500s. Another hypothesis is that they arrived in the area in the 1700s or abandoned by breeders in the early 1800s. They have been tested blood and determined to be the offspring of the Colonial Spanish horse and described as a classic "Andalusian type". Cerbat Livestock was well documented in 1860. In 1971, the number dropped dramatically during the dry season when livestock farmers shot many horses roam free, believing that they competed with cattle for scarce water resources. At that time, about 18 Cerbats were captured and preserved in private flocks. After the passage of time, about 20 horses were found to remain in the area. In 1990, other residual wild populations were discovered by the Bureau of Land Management and blood testing determined that they were associated with animals that had been preserved in private flocks. The horse-studded horse in breeding has been bred for the horses of another Spanish Mustang ancestor to keep the bloodline alive without marriage.

Their name comes from the Cerbat Mountains where the Cerbat herd is located.
