Gameplay
The Barbie Horse Adventure: Wild Horse Rescue is an adventure game that is played from a third person perspective. The storm came and caused the gate at an open ranch, letting horses and foals escape. Barbie had to track the horses and horses through 3 parts of 3 different settings: forest, mountains, and beach. There is an average of three horses plus one horse that can be found at the end of the section. In the second part of the section, the lost horse will be found by others, and Barbie must race them.

Reception
The game has been heavily criticized by the game press. X-Play calls it the Games You Should Never Buy next to Monster Garage: The Game and Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing . In the episode, X-Play co-hosted Morgan Webb called Barbie Horse Adventures: The worst Wild Horse Rescue game ever made, and kept the reference so in an ongoing episode after giving a terrible review of having 1 of 5. IGN gave it a 4/10, and XGP Gaming ratings are 4 out of 10.
A decent review, which primarily indicates that the game is directed to children, is provided by TeamXbox (3.8/5) and the Official British Xbox Magazine (6.7/10.)
Xbox 360 Compatibility
The Xbox version (and with extension, Microsoft Xbox maker) has been ridiculed for being a rare Xbox 360 backward compatible game, while some of the more popular Xbox games remain unplayable on the newer consoles. This is seen as a small licensed title that has little appeal beyond its niche. However, it has been reported that the compatibility of games on the Xbox 360 is a side effect of the different game competition.
